Wike Inaugurates Karu Road Dualisation Project

Abuja: The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has inaugurated the reconstruction and dualisation of the Karu Road. Wike emphasized that the project exemplifies President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aiming to transform the infrastructure of the city.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Wike assured residents that the ongoing road works and new projects would revitalize the area, which has long suffered from inadequate infrastructure. He remarked that Karu’s status as a satellite town was largely due to poor road conditions, which are now set to improve.

Wike detailed several roads slated for immediate reconstruction, including Custom Clinic Junction to CBN Quarters Junction, Custom Clinic Junction to EFCC, NIA Quarters Road, Karshi Road, and Primus Hospital Road. He stated that these roads would be completed within 10 months and equipped with streetlights.

He commended the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) Chairman, Christopher Maikalangu, for his dedication to Karu’s development and highlighted the importance of supporting leaders who prioritize the community’s interests. Wike emphasized that democracy should deliver tangible benefits rather than mere rhetoric.

The minister also urged local contractors to demonstrate their capability by delivering high-quality work, warning against using weather conditions as an excuse for delays. Wike pointed out that the project would enhance mobility and boost local businesses. He encouraged youths to take ownership of the infrastructure and its benefits.

FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, also addressed the importance of the project for Karu residents, noting its potential to ease traffic congestion and facilitate smoother movement for commuters and goods. She expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his life-transforming infrastructural initiatives and praised Wike for his leadership and commitment to developing the FCT.
