Trader robbed of Tk 700,00 in broad daylight in Dhaka

The muggers, impersonating policemen, robbed the trader, named Azam Uddin, near Doyel Chattar roundabout at around 1pm on Saturday, said the victim’s friend Ziaul Haider, who works for a private TV channel.

“Azam went to Chawkbazar to buy some goods for his business but he could not as some shops were closed.

“While he was returning to his shop in Nilkhet, six people on two motorcycles blocked the path of the rickshaw he was on and identified themselves as DB (Detective Branch of police) men.”

They then beat him up, held him at gunpoint, took away the money and fled, Haider says. “All this happened in just 1-15 seconds … Azam had a colleague with him on the rickshaw but he too could not do anything.”

Azam then went to Shahbagh Police Station.

Police were looking into the incident and trying to identify the culprits, Officer-in-charge Abu Bakar Siddique of the precinct told bdnews24.com.
