Abuja: The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has officially unveiled its 60th anniversary logo, symbolizing six decades of dedication to sports journalism and advocacy in Nigeria.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the unveiling event at SWAN’s headquarters presented the new logo, a green and white design featuring the number ’60’ and the SWAN emblem, highlighting the association’s longstanding commitment. The ribbon reading ‘Years Anniversary’ marks the significance of this milestone.
SWAN President, Isaiah Benjamin, emphasized the importance of this moment for the association. He stated, ‘As we unveil this logo, we are not just celebrating the past 60 years, but also reigniting our collective commitment to professionalism, integrity, and the promotion of sports through responsible journalism.’
Plans for the anniversary celebrations in October include a series of events such as public lectures, awards ceremonies, sports activities for media professionals, tributes to sports legends, and a gala night to honor long-standing supporters of SWAN’s mission.
NAN reports that the celebration coincides with Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, enhancing its national significance. Over the past 60 years, SWAN has been instrumental in shaping the sports media landscape, advocating for ethical reporting, and influencing sports governance and inclusion policies.
