Abuja: Vice-President Kashim Shettima has pressed state governments to turn street-level optimism into genuine prosperity within homes and communities. Shettima issued this call during the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting, which was attended by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. As the Chairman of NEC, the vice-president emphasized that the true measure of governance is the tangible improvement in citizens’ lives rather than mere rhetoric.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Shettima highlighted the administration’s shift from reactive crisis management to proactive planning. He praised the Katsina Sustainable Platform for Agriculture (KASPA), a state-driven digital agriculture initiative aimed at modernizing service delivery and enhancing farmers’ access to essential resources such as data, markets, and climate information.
Shettima recounted his recent visit to Katsina, at the invitation of Governor Dikko Radda, where the KASPA project was launched. He described the initiative as a scalable framework for digital governance, farmer inclusion, and climate-smart productivity, ready for adoption at the sub-national level.
The vice-president noted that the platform reflects the council’s broader commitment to technology-enabled governance and inclusive agricultural growth across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. He stressed that Nigeria’s recovery will be a result of deliberate actions taken to protect the economy, safeguard the environment, and uphold citizens’ welfare.
Shettima expressed appreciation for the governors, ministers, and council members for maintaining NEC as a platform of trust, cooperation, and policy innovation.
