Sallah Brings Financial Windfall for FCT Beauty and Grooming Professionals

Abuja: Beauticians, hairdressers, and grooming specialists across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) reported a significant increase in patronage during the recently concluded Eid-el-Kabir festival.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the festival period saw a considerable surge in customers, with many professionals in the beauty industry expressing satisfaction over the boost in business.

During visits to various salons and beauty parlours, beauticians shared their experiences of the bustling festive season. Mrs. Sahadatu Musa, a hairstylist in Nyanya, expressed her delight at the financial benefits she gained. She noted that her earnings during the festivities were substantial enough to cover her children’s school fees and purchase new clothes for them. She highlighted that the demand for beauty services led to increased service rates, with some clients opting for home services at higher costs due to the long queues at salons.

Henna artists also experienced increased demand, with Mr. Abubakar Abdellah, a henna artist in Lugbe, noting the popularity of festive designs. He mentioned that red henna was priced at N4,000, while black henna cost N8,000, indicating a thriving business environment during the festival.

Barbers were not left out of the festive rush. Mr. Kabiru Umar, a barber in Bwari, shared how he expanded his services and workforce to accommodate the influx of customers. Parents brought their children for haircuts, beard trims, and general grooming, leading Mr. Umar to add services like manicures, pedicures, and face massages. To meet the growing demand, he upgraded his equipment, restocked supplies, and hired additional staff.

For tailors, the festive period was equally demanding. Zainab Abubakar, a tailor specializing in women’s wear in Jikwoyi, described it as the busiest and most profitable season. She received orders weeks before the festival, with a significant rush occurring in the final days. The demand for abayas made from lace, chiffon, or crepe was high, prompting her to focus on time management to meet customer expectations.

Across the FCT, from makeup artists to stylists and tailors, professionals found the 2025 Eid-el-Kabir to be not only a spiritually uplifting occasion but also a financially rewarding one, marking a successful and fulfilling holiday season.
