Royal Father Visits Orphanage, Rehabilitation Centre to Celebrate Coronation Anniversary


Lagos: The Traditional Ruler of Ikorodu, Oba Kabir Shotobi, paid a visit to an orphanage home and a rehabilitation centre in Lagos to mark his 10th coronation anniversary. Oba Shotobi’s visit included stops at the Lagos State Rehabilitation and Training Centre and the Divine Heritage Child Centre, where he made generous donations of food items and money.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, the Lagos State Rehabilitation and Training Centre provides care for drug addicts and autistic children. During his visit, Oba Shotobi was accompanied by the Chairman of Danbaba Foundation, Alhaji Sanni Danbaba. They donated bags of rice, beans, cassava flakes, and money to support the centres’ efforts. The celebrations for the anniversary began on Saturday and are set to conclude on August 10 at the royal palace.



Oba Shotobi expressed that the donations were aimed at alleviating the struggles of the less privileged, emphasizing that this act of giving was a continued effort on his part as he considers them his children. During his visit to the rehabilitation centre, he advised the youth to remain law-abiding and focused, avoiding involvement in crime. He also urged the management and teachers to prioritize character development among the residents.



Mr. Jubril Abisogun, the Principal of the rehabilitation and training centre, expressed gratitude for the donation, assuring that the items would be used effectively. Additionally, Mr. Kaoli Olusanya, a former Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture, commended Oba Shotobi for his generosity and called on the Lagos State Government to improve the welfare of those in the rehabilitation centre.



Alhaji Sanni Danbaba, representing the Danbaba Foundation, highlighted the organization’s commitment to impacting lives and reducing the number of out-of-school children. He urged philanthropists to increase their efforts to assist the less privileged and empower the youth, as a means to reduce crime in society.
