Abuja: Mr. Sunday Dare, Special Adviser on Media and Communications to President Bola Tinubu, has lauded Amaju Pinnick’s recent appointment as Special Adviser to CAF President Patrice Motsepe.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Dare, who previously served as the minister of youth and sports development, described this appointment as a significant boost for both Nigerian and African football. In a statement provided to NAN, Dare congratulated Pinnick on his re-entry into the leadership of continental football. Pinnick, who once led the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), was appointed by Motsepe on Saturday, marking his return to the inner circle of CAF.
The presidential aide praised Pinnick’s dedication to football governance and his steady influence across Africa’s sporting domain. “Amaju Pinnick’s re-emergence on the continental football stage is a testament to his vast experience and tireless passion for the beautiful game,” Dare stated. He expressed confidence that Pinnick’s new role as Special Adviser to the CAF President is well-deserved and anticipates that he will make significant contributions to African football at this strategic level.
Dare underscored that Pinnick’s position within the CAF executive will once again place Nigeria at the heart of major football decisions on the continent. “It’s a win for the country and a proud moment for Nigerian sports leadership, especially at a time where President Bola Tinubu has mandated the development of a strong sports economy in Nigeria under the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he added.
Pinnick has previously held roles as CAF first vice president and as a member of the FIFA Council. During his tenure, he collaborated closely with Dare during his ministerial period, working together to reposition Nigerian football and sports in general.
Dare expressed optimism that Pinnick’s appointment would further enhance Nigeria’s standing in international football governance.
