Ohanaeze Praises Tinubu for Establishing New Tertiary Institutions in South-East


Enugu: The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has expressed its appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for approving the establishment of three new tertiary institutions in the South-East region through the signing of related bills into law. The commendation was made public by Dr. Ezechi Chukwu, the National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, during an announcement in Enugu.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, the newly established institutions include the Federal University Okigwe in Imo State, the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences in Item, Abia State, and the Federal College of Education in Bende, Abia State. Dr. Chukwu highlighted that these institutions are expected to enhance research capabilities, advance knowledge, and improve healthcare services. Furthermore, they are anticipated to create employment opportunities, stimulate development, and reduce criminal activities in the region.



The Ohanaeze President-General, Sen. John Azuta-Mbata, a former Senator, praised the use of legislative processes to foster development in Alaigbo. He also extended his appreciation to the National Assembly for their role in this initiative. The organization specifically acknowledged Mr. Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, for sponsoring the bills for the two institutions in Bende, Abia State, and Sen. Patrick Ndubueze, who sponsored the bill for the Federal University Okigwe in Imo State. Dr. Chukwu noted that this initiative marks a significant milestone in the political history and development of Okigwe in Imo State.
