According to News Agency of Nigeria, Dr. Opeifa visited the accident site on August 27 to oversee the recovery operations alongside NRC recovery engineers. During the operation, the recovery team managed to retrieve one of the derailed passenger coaches in addition to the locomotive that had been recovered on the day of the incident.
Dr. Opeifa praised the engineers for their professionalism and quick response in handling the situation. He also expressed gratitude to the security agencies present at the site for ensuring that the recovery process was conducted smoothly and safely.
