Nollywood Legend Binta Ayo-Mogaji Among Honorees at Afro Awards 2025


Los angeles: A Nollywood legend, Binta Ayo-Mogaji, and Dr. Azeezat Abiola-Amusat, founder of Abiola Beauty Concept, are among 15 Africans and Americans recognized with the Afro Awards 2025 for their humanitarian services.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, the AFRO Awards, scheduled for October 25 in Los Angeles, California, is an annual nonprofit event powered by the Oduala Foundation. The awards aim to honor individuals and organizations for their contributions to humanity in various fields. Chief Taiwo Oduala, Executive Director and Founder of the AFRO Awards, emphasized the event as a platform for celebrating Afro-centric excellence and individuals who have positively impacted their communities.



Oduala highlighted that the 2025 AFRO Awards, marking its fourth edition, promises an evening filled with elegance, culture, and purpose, featuring surprise performances and storytelling that connects communities. The event aims to empower people from different walks of life, educate, and inspire young individuals to act as change agents, promoting global career success and cultural unity.



Ayo-Mogaji, celebrated as an icon of African cinema, received the Nollywood Legend Award, elevating her as a symbol of pride for Nigeria and Africa at large. Meanwhile, Abiola-Amusat, recognized for her efforts in preserving and elevating African beauty, is set to receive the African Culture and Beauty Stylist Award.



The awards also honor individuals such as Luenell, who received the Diamond Mic Award for her contributions to comedy, and NBA star Jarred Vanderbilt, awarded the Community Impact Award for his dedication to empowering youth. Carl Jones and TJ Walker, co-founders of Cross Colours, received the Culture Without Prejudice Award for their work in using fashion as a means to promote cultural pride. Additionally, Faizon Love received the Culture and Comedy Impact Award for his influence in the entertainment industry.



The News Agency of Nigeria reports that previous Nigerian honorees include Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Dr. Allen Onyema, the late Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Dr. Moshood Olalekan-Balogun, Osun Governor Sen. Ademola Adeleke, and music icon David Adeleke, also known as Davido.
