Nigeria Earning Global Respect Again: Tinubu

Abuja: President Bola Tinubu has asserted that the bold economic reforms undertaken by his administration are producing positive outcomes, stabilizing the economy, and enhancing Nigeria’s global image and investor confidence. He made these remarks during a meeting at the State House, Abuja, with His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ghandi Olaoye (Orumogege III), the Soun of Ogbomosoland, and other royal fathers.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, President Tinubu highlighted that years of neglect, fake records, and harmful practices had previously deprived Nigeria of essential revenue for development. He pointed out challenges such as currency arbitrage, fake trading, and widespread corruption that compromised the integrity of the economy and the nation. The President expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their patience and support, stating that the economy is now stabilized, and the challenges have been addressed.

President Tinubu emphasized his commitment to inclusive education, citing the establishment of the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) to prevent students from dropping out due to financial constraints. He also mentioned the government’s focus on infrastructure development, acknowledging the progress made within two years. The President commended Oba Olaoye’s developmental vision and promised to instruct various ministers to assess the monarch’s requests for regional development.

Oba Olaoye praised the administration’s reforms, particularly the foreign exchange policy and NELFUND, which he believes are beneficial for students. He expressed gratitude for the approval of the contract for the dualization of the Oyo-Ogbomoso Road, crucial for national trade. The monarch appealed for improved electricity and water supply, upgrades to the Ogbomoso General Hospital, and the establishment of a research institute to enhance the mango and cashew value chain.

The meeting was attended by five traditional rulers representing key councils in Ogbomosoland, symbolizing unity and cultural solidarity. Chief Sunday Dare, Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication and Agbaakin of Ogbomosoland, was also present.
