Lagos: Dr Atinuke Owolabi, a newly inaugurated board member of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) representing the South West, has emphasized the importance of teamwork, collaboration, and innovation for sustainable development. Owolabi, confirmed by President Bola Tinubu as a member of the NCDC Board in June and inaugurated in August, expressed her views in a statement.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Owolabi, who previously served as the Chairperson of the Lagos Branch of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), is committed to leveraging her experience from APWEN to foster the accelerated growth of the NCDC. She has pledged to contribute her expertise and networks to support the commission in delivering strategic interventions across sectors such as infrastructure, health, agriculture, and education.

Owolabi, who is also recognized as an engineer, philanthropist, educationist, and politician, promised to initiate teamwork-based projects aimed at integrating women and youths into the core of development. She highlighted her intention to collaborate with government bodies, the private sector, professional associations, and community stakeholders to ensure sustainable impact across the region.

Moreover, Owolabi assured that she would promote innovation, renewable energy adoption, and digital inclusion throughout the North Central region. She expressed her gratitude to President Tinubu for the appointment, viewing it as a rare privilege and a significant call to service.

“This appointment is not about me alone but about the collective team that will drive the commission’s mandate,” she stated. Owolabi believes that the appointment will enable her to collaborate with board members, relevant ministries, and stakeholders to deliver development to the citizens of the North Central region and Nigerians under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

As an advocate for women in STEM, Owolabi noted her past achievements with APWEN Lagos, which include building innovation hubs, championing STEM education, mentoring female engineers, and promoting digital skills and entrepreneurship among youths. She emphasized that these successes have reinforced her belief in collective efforts for achieving development.

Owolabi views her appointment as a joint mission and pledged to remain a loyal, hardworking, and solution-driven member of the Tinubu administration. “Together and by God’s grace, we shall transform lives and deliver on the Renewed Hope Agenda for our people,” she concluded.
