Lagos: Lagos State Commissioner for Local Government Service Commission, Mr. Ahmed Seriki, has praised the people of Epe for their celebration of this year’s Ojude Oba Festival. Seriki extended his greetings in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Epe, noting the significance of the festival in promoting unity and tradition in Lagos State.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the commissioner highlighted the festival’s role in preserving cultural heritage and fostering communal harmony. He acknowledged the custodians of culture in Epe for maintaining customs that promote peace, identity, and pride among the community. Seriki also underlined the importance of such cultural festivals in strengthening inter-generational bonds and boosting tourism in the state.
The Lagos State Government remains committed to supporting cultural events that reflect the state’s traditions. Seriki emphasized that gatherings like Ojude Oba serve as platforms for economic growth, social interaction, and cultural awareness. He commended Oba Kamorudeen Animashahun, the Oloja of Epeland, for his efforts in preserving customs and promoting unity among the town’s indigenes and residents.
Seriki described the festival as a celebration of cultural pride and the collective aspirations of the Epe people. He noted that Ojude Oba provides an opportunity for Epe’s sons and daughters, both locally and internationally, to reconnect with their roots and contribute to the community’s socio-economic development. He encouraged other communities across Lagos State to emulate Epe’s dedication to preserving and showcasing their cultural identities.
