Kebbi Traders Laud Government for Tsamiya Dry Port Project

Abuja: Merchants from Jega Local Government Area in Kebbi have expressed their appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for approving the establishment of the Tsamiya Dry Port on the Nigeria-Benin Republic border. This development was lauded during a solidarity visit to Governor Nasir Idris.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Alhaji Nasiru Dan-Musa, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Trade and Commerce, conveyed the traders’ commendation. He highlighted the dry port’s significance, noting that it would enable merchants to import goods directly from Benin Republic, bypassing the need to route through Niger Republic, thereby reducing additional costs.

“We commend President Tinubu for the establishment of the dry port in Tsamiya, and Gov. Nasir Idris for facilitating its take-off. The port will certainly be a major relief that will ease import and export of goods at reduced costs,” Dan-Musa stated. He emphasized Jega’s longstanding status as an economic hub and assured the governor of the people’s loyalty.

Additionally, Alhaji Kabir Labbo-Jega, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, encouraged the governor to ignore negative remarks against his administration, labeling them as politically motivated falsehoods. He reiterated the community’s support for the governor’s policies and initiatives.

Labbo-Jega also urged Governor Idris to advocate for the completion of the Independent Power Project at Kalgo-Basaura to boost electricity supply, which is crucial for industrial development.
