Kaduna: The Kaduna State Commissioner for Information, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with media organisations to promote accurate and credible information dissemination. Maiyaki stated this during a courtesy visit to the Kaduna Zonal Office of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Maiyaki commended the Zonal Manager, Alhaji Bashir Rabe-Mani, for the warm reception and praised NAN for its continuous support to the ministry and the state government. He explained that the visit was part of a media tour across leading media houses in Kaduna to build stronger working relationships between the government and the press in combating misinformation and fake news.
Maiyaki emphasized the importance of partnership between the government and media professionals to ensure that accurate, credible, and factual information reaches the public. He highlighted NAN as a critical platform in achieving this goal. He also acknowledged the agency for its consistent support to the state government, noting that NAN had provided office space for the Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC) in Lagos and played a significant role in promoting the state’s activities nationwide.
Maiyaki revealed that the ministry had established a new Department for Social Media and Contents Creation to enhance digital communication and public engagement. He mentioned that the Kaduna State Media Corporation is at an advanced stage of re-subscribing to NAN services, and he expressed the ministry’s interest in partnerships in areas like multimedia to serialize the achievements of Gov. Uba Sani’s administration on NAN’s platform.
In response, Rabe-Mani described the visit as historic and timely, remarking that the reinvigoration of the Ministry of Information by the Kaduna State Government was a positive development. He noted the importance of the visit, stating that Kaduna had long been without a functional Ministry of Information, and praised the governor for reintroducing it and appointing capable professionals.
Rabe-Mani commended the commissioner for his proactive engagements with the media and pledged NAN’s continued partnership in projecting the image and activities of the state. He highlighted NAN’s role as a leading content provider in the country, with reporters covering all beats in Kaduna, and expressed the agency’s support for efforts that promote peace, unity, and development. Rabe-Mani also mentioned that the agency places high priority on its Kaduna Zonal Office, with the Managing Director, Malam Ali M. Ali, maintaining strong ties with the state, having begun his journalism career there.
