Awka: The Police-led Joint Task Force (JTF) carried out a successful raid on a suspected criminal camp in Agulu-Ezechukwu, located in Aguata Local Government Area, resulting in the death of one suspect.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the operation led to the recovery of several items believed to be stolen, including an ash-coloured Toyota Sienna (Reg. No. EKY 03 FF), an unregistered white Mazda Hilux, a motorcycle, and various mechanical tools. The scene also contained household and kitchen items such as pots, gallons, groceries, mattresses, clothes, and other materials.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, announced the development, stating that operatives from the DSS, Army, Navy, Civil Defence, and Anambra Vigilante participated in the raid. The task force stormed the hideout in the early hours of Thursday, managing to neutralize an armed suspect during the operation.
Ikenga detailed that the task force razed the criminal camp and successfully retrieved the vehicles, motorcycle, tools, and other items, all suspected to be linked to criminal activities. The camp was taken over following a coordinated seven-hour gun battle with the suspected armed criminals.
In the aftermath of the raid, operatives are actively searching the area, tracking blood trails in pursuit of other suspects who managed to flee the scene.
