FRSC Warns Against Stunt Driving and Corruption During 2025 Ember Months in FCT

Abuja: The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), FCT Command, has issued a warning to motorists regarding reckless behaviour, stunt driving, and acts of corruption during the 2025 Ember Months. The FCT Sector Commander, Felix Theman, delivered this caution during the inauguration of the 2025 Ember Months Road Safety Sensitisation Campaign.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Theman highlighted that the ember months are characterized by increased vehicular movement, which often leads to traffic congestion and a rise in road crashes and fatalities. He specifically warned against the common practice among young riders of turning roads into race tracks, describing such stunt driving as dangerous and unacceptable. The sector commander emphasized the FRSC’s zero-tolerance policy on bribery and other misconduct, urging motorists to refrain from offering bribes and to report any unethical behaviour by personnel.

Theman further noted that disciplinary actions would be strictly enforced in line with the FRSC Standing Orders on Discipline for any officer found guilty of misconduct. He mentioned that mobile courts would be instrumental in sanctioning high-risk offences such as speeding, dangerous driving, and overloading, demonstrating the Corps’ commitment to maintaining discipline, transparency, and professionalism.

The FCT Command has identified high-traffic areas, including Zuba, Nyanya, Bwari, and Gwagwalada, for close monitoring during the festive period. Theman urged motorists to take personal responsibility for their safety, aligning with the campaign theme, ‘Take Responsibility for Your Safety.’ He also expressed gratitude to the Minister of the FCT for supporting road maintenance efforts, ensuring that the roads remain conducive for travel.

In his concluding remarks, Theman reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to promoting a safe road culture and protecting lives and property throughout the territory.
