Abuja: Ambience of Hope Foundation (AHEF) has made a significant impact by distributing items worth over N7 million to nursing mothers, pregnant women, and others in the ECWA Comprehensive Medical Centre, Customs Hospital, and Karu environs in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the distribution included essential items such as baby wardrobes, baby baths, diapers, toiletries, wrappers, detergents, and palliatives. This initiative, named ‘Mother-Baby Maternity Empowerment,’ was part of the foundation’s fifth-anniversary celebration, focusing on empowerment and supporting humanity.
Amb. Alexandra Olusola-Olukomo, National President of AHEF, shared her personal journey of overcoming challenges related to motherhood, which inspired the foundation’s mission. After experiencing a prolonged pregnancy and multiple miscarriages, Olusola-Olukomo felt compelled to give back to mothers, the girl-child, and society at large.
Olusola-Olukomo emphasized the foundation’s shift from its traditional palliative distribution to empowering pregnant women, newborns, and teenagers with menstrual kits. She also highlighted the need for government intervention to improve maternity ward conditions and called on other NGOs to contribute to aiding the vulnerable.
Beneficiaries like Mrs. Judith Matthew expressed gratitude, describing the unexpected gifts as a delightful surprise. Her husband, Mr. Paul Matthew, echoed these sentiments, appreciating the foundation’s gesture.
Mrs. Veronica Oluwafemi, who gave birth on the foundation’s anniversary, also received gifts and expressed her thanks. Her husband, Mr. Williams Oluwafemi, praised the organization and encouraged AHEF to continue its humanitarian work.
Mr. David Cocobassey, General Manager of AHEF, expressed his excitement in making a difference, while Samson Aruwa, General Comptroller of Government Complementing Partnership, underscored the importance of celebrating with mothers and newborns to acknowledge years of sustenance.
