Ethiopia Plants Over 103 Million Saplings in a Day


Addis ababa: Ethiopia’s Government Communication Service announced that by July 31, the country had successfully planted more than 103 million tree seedlings in a single day as part of the Green Legacy Initiative campaign.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, ENA, a partner of TV BRICS, reported that early in the morning, Ethiopia experienced millions of people participating nationwide to set a new record by planting 700 million saplings from dawn to dusk, as part of the ongoing Green Legacy Initiative.



This year’s campaign, themed ‘Renewal Through Planting,’ aims to plant 7.5 billion seedlings throughout the country during the rainy season, which usually spans from June to September.



As a state news agency, this nationwide effort highlights Ethiopia’s ongoing dedication to tackling land degradation, boosting climate resilience, and fostering sustainable development through its leading environmental initiative.
