Abuja: The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has announced the formation of an independent investigation panel to probe allegations of financial impropriety against one of its bishops. Dr. Gershinen Dajur, the General Secretary of the Church of Nigeria, made this disclosure in a statement issued in Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Dajur emphasized the seriousness with which the church is addressing these allegations, reaffirming its dedication to integrity and transparency. “The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) is aware of reports circulating on social media and in the mainstream press concerning allegations of financial impropriety involving one of our Bishops. As a Church committed to the teachings of Christ, and to integrity and accountability, we take these matters with the utmost seriousness,” Dajur stated.
The church has established an independent, high-level investigation panel, led by a distinguished retired judge, to scrutinize the allegations and ascertain the truth. Dajur assured that the panel would operate with complete transparency and fairness throughout the process. He urged church members, stakeholders within the Body of Christ, and the general public to avoid speculation while the investigation is in progress.
Dajur further noted that the Church would act appropriately in accordance with biblical principles and the governance frameworks already in place within the Communion. “Our faith reminds us that the Church is greater than any individual, and we remain steadfast in our mission to serve God and humanity with sincerity,” he concluded.
