Chinese Embassy Probes Alleged Abandonment of Nigerian Miners in CAR


Abuja: The Chinese Embassy in Nigeria has initiated an investigation into an alleged abandonment of Nigerian miners by a Chinese mining company in the Central African Republic (CAR). The Embassy made this known, in a statement, on Friday in Abuja.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, the probe was in response to a social media video depicting Nigerian miners allegedly abandoned by a Chinese mining enterprise in CAR. The statement emphasized that the Embassy places great importance on this matter and has commenced an immediate investigation to ascertain the facts.



The Embassy also highlighted that the Chinese government has consistently required all Chinese enterprises and citizens operating abroad to strictly comply with local laws and regulations. The statement noted, “The Chinese side will urge the involved companies to address this matter appropriately.”



Furthermore, the Embassy assured that they would maintain close communication with Nigerian authorities throughout the investigation to work together in safeguarding the lawful rights and interests of citizens of both nations.
