Centre Calls for Impactful Leadership, Reforms in Africa


Abuja: The Centre for Public Service Productivity and Development (CeProd) has advised governments in Africa to implement good governance that will open doors of opportunities and accelerate economic development in the continent. The Director-General of CeProd, Dr. Chris Egbu, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, Egbu emphasized that impactful leadership is fundamental for Nigeria and other African countries to achieve accelerated development. He added that positive reforms for the welfare of citizens would equip Africans for future roles in developing the continent.



Egbu highlighted the recent CeProd leadership summit, which attracted scholars, policymakers, and business leaders who united to envision a prosperous future for Nigeria and Africa. The summit was held in partnership with Crown University International Chartered Inc. USA and the Association of Pension Desk Practitioners of Nigeria (ASSOPEP), marking a significant step in leadership roles and reforms.



Prominent speakers at the summit included Mr. Ironbar Bassey, Chief of Staff to the Governor of Cross River, who emphasized the government’s commitment to productivity-driven governance. Dr. David Samuel, a noted economist and public policy expert from Trinity University, Lagos, delivered a presentation on ‘Public Policy and Economic Reform’. Prof. Evans Osabuohien from Covenant University addressed the audience on ‘Integrity in Leadership: Combating Corruption for National Renewal’, emphasizing integrity as a strategic imperative for Nigeria’s future.



Egbu further explained that the induction of 18 new Fellows of CeProd (FCP) recognized their commitment to leadership and productivity. He mentioned that this induction reinforces CeProd’s mission to connect and celebrate productivity-driven professionals, promoting economic development and ethical leadership across Nigeria and beyond. The new Fellows have become ambassadors of a vision where merit and service excellence are paramount.



The 2025 Leadership Summit not only served as a platform for knowledge exchange but also underscored the urgent need for impactful leadership and reform in Africa.
