Abuja: The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) recently honored several distinguished Nigerians for their exceptional contributions to God, the Church, and society. The ceremony was held in Abuja during a public lecture and award event organized by the FCT chapter of CAN.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the honorees included Sen. George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation; Gen. Christopher Musa (rtd), the former Chief of Defence Staff; and Dr. Paul Enenche, the Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre. Others recognized were Comfort Chigbue, CAN’s National Director of Legal and Public Affairs, and Mr. Oronsaye Osagiede, along with several serving lawmakers and Christian leaders.
The event, themed ‘The Response of the Church to the Menace of Insecurity in the Country,’ also marked the unveiling of a proposed CAN FCT Secretariat. In his keynote address, Rev. Timothy Amakom, the FCT CAN Chairman, emphasized the significance of the occasion as both a celebration of service and a call to nation-building.
Rev. Amakom expressed appreciation for the ongoing support from government officials, Church leaders, and Christian professionals across the FCT. He detailed that the planned Secretariat would function as a center for leadership training, advocacy, and inter-denominational collaboration, envisioning it as a hub where Christian leaders can plan national interventions and mentor young believers.
Dr. Paul Enenche, speaking on behalf of the awardees, thanked CAN for acknowledging their efforts in national development and expressed hope for divine appreciation. The event was attended by senior government officials, religious leaders, industry captains, and representatives from the Christian community in the FCT.
