Abuja: The Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) has directed all accounting officers of federal agencies and parastatals to ensure online registration of procurement officers is completed by September 8. The BPP Director-General, Dr. Adebowale Adedokun, announced this directive in a statement issued in Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the directive follows a presidential mandate that reverts the mobility of procurement officers to the Bureau, as communicated through the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation in May. The Bureau is establishing a Procurement Management System (POMS) to harmonize records of procurement officers across all federal procuring entities and update their data for effective management.
Dr. Adedokun emphasized that all procurement officers under the Public Procurement Act 2007 (as amended) are required to complete an online Google form with their details. The form is accessible at https://bit.ly/proc-data. Additionally, the Accounting Officers of procuring entities must ensure that the Directors of Human Resources fill out the attached form, which needs to be duly endorsed.
All forms must be completed and submitted to the Bureau by the close of work on Monday, September 8. The BPP has strongly advised strict compliance with this directive, warning that failure to comply may result in sanctions in line with Public Service Rules and other relevant federal government policies and extant rules.
Dr. Adedokun urged the chief executive officers, directors general, and their equivalents in the procuring entities to inform the concerned officers of the directive contained in the circular.
