Abuja: The death of Mama Lydia Yilwatda, the mother of APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has become a source of inspiration for the chairman to continue her legacy of service. Prof. Yilwatda expressed this sentiment during a condolence visit from the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Malam Ali M. Ali, and his team on Tuesday in Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Mama Lydia Yilwatda, who passed away at the age of 83 after a brief illness, was a devoted Christian and a pillar of the Church of Christ in Nations. Prof. Yilwatda, the firstborn son, described his mother’s passing as particularly painful, noting the deep bond they shared due to her devotion to their upbringing. He emphasized that Mama Lydia’s legacy of service will motivate him to continue working for Nigerians across all divides.
Prof. Yilwatda also highlighted the recent success of the APC in a by-election, which he believes signals growing public recognition of the ruling party’s contributions under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. He praised the administration’s achievements in infrastructure development and economic growth, stating that the APC remains committed to the country’s future and the welfare of its youth.
Expressing gratitude to NAN, Prof. Yilwatda commended the agency for its objective reporting and partnership with the APC to communicate the party’s accomplishments. He pledged to be a voice for the voiceless and to consider all opinions in his leadership role.
In response, Ali encouraged Prof. Yilwatda to find solace in the belief that Mama Lydia’s legacy will endure through his achievements. He assured that NAN would continue to uphold its mission as an unbiased government media outlet. The NAN delegation included Khaliel Abduhadi, Stephen Igiewe, Ismail Abdulaziz, and Ngozi Anofochi.
