Quoting Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said at an event at the Supreme Court Bar Association auditorium on Friday, “No excesses will be allowed. You know ruling party supporters do some excesses.”
“You have to be alert so that no-one can obstruct the holding of fair elections,” he said.
Nasim, a member of the Awami League Presidium, said, “Fair elections are being held and will be held. Law-enforcing agencies and the Election Commission will firmly deal with any transgression. We’ll cooperate with them.”
The ruling party is happy with the first leg of the six-phase union council elections held on Tuesday, but the BNP has called it a ‘joke’.
Nasim, also the health minister, said the Awami League was overseeing the elections as it believed in democracy.
SAARC Cultural Society organised the event on the occasion of the Independence Day which falls on Saturday.
