Lagos: The Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) has announced an indefinite ‘No Fly’ ban on Comfort Emmanson, following allegations of unruly behavior on an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos. This decision was made after an incident on flight Q9 303, where Emmanson reportedly became disruptive and assaulted a crew member.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the AON’s action comes in response to what has been described as the most severe case of unruly passenger behavior witnessed in 2025. The incident was detailed in a statement from AON’s spokesperson, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, emphasizing the need for stricter enforcement of air travel regulations.
The incident occurred when Emmanson allegedly refused to comply with safety protocols regarding mobile phone usage during the flight’s landing at Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two. Her refusal reportedly escalated into violent behavior, including an attempted attack with a fire extinguisher, before she was subdued by airport security.
The AON’s statement commen
ded Ibom Air for its swift and professional handling of the situation and expressed full support for the airline’s actions. The association highlighted the serious threat posed by Emmanson’s actions to both crew and passengers, as well as the aircraft’s integrity.
Emmanson’s ban extends to all flights operated by AON members, both within Nigeria and internationally. The AON has urged the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to tighten security measures across all airports to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The AON reiterated its zero-tolerance policy toward unruly passengers, stressing that such behaviors would result in severe consequences. It called for passengers to express grievances through appropriate channels to ensure the safety and security of all airline operations.
