Erie County to Deploy Microgrid at Rath Building with e2Companies R3Di® System

Microgrid and Resiliency Solutions Project Includes Infrastructure Upgrades to Meet County’s Long-Term Energy Needs

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla., May 22, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — e2Companies, a leading provider of integrated solutions for power generation and distribution, and its subsidiary, Palm Energy, are leading a Microgrid and Resiliency Solutions Project for the Erie County Department of Public Works, which aims to increase power reliability at their buildings in Western New York.

This initiative begins with the need for a more reliable, cost-effective alternative for backup power generation at the Edward A. Rath County Office Building, a 16-story building that houses many of the county’s public offices. e2Companies will install its patented R3Di® System to provide uninterruptible, conditioned power for the building. In addition, the R3Di® System will incorporate a new rooftop solar array, making it a turnkey microgrid, further enabling flexibility for the utility during times of emergency grid conditions. e2Companies combines the system with grid optimization software and services to strategically dispatch power based on weather, market pricing, and grid conditions to make it a full-service Virtual Utility®, the first utility-grade network of Distributed Energy Resources designed to deliver full visibility and control with a turnkey, integrated solution.

As part of a long-term partnership stemming from this project, e2Companies and Palm Energy will evaluate Microgrid power needs for other facilities across Erie County and recommend solutions that may include on-site power systems, which will enhance their reliability and sustainability, and in turn energy costs and savings.

“In addition to no longer having to worry about providing power to a mission-critical building, Erie County is able to use our expertise to participate in market programs that may not have been feasible in the past,” said Jeffrey Bonerb, Vice President of Strategic Business Partnerships at e2Companies. “Our solutions are available to commercial, industrial, and government entities across New York State, and we are excited to expand our portfolio in the NYISO territory.”

e2Companies will partner with 34 Group, a New York State-certified Minority Business Enterprise led by Hall of Fame running back Thurman Thomas, to manage the construction of other projects identified through their ongoing assessments. “The project aligns well with 34 Group’s mission to build stronger communities by investing in construction that serves the public good and creates more local jobs,” Thomas said.

Erie County Public Works Commissioner William Geary said the Microgrid and Resiliency Solutions Project is an innovative partnership that sets a foundation for the county to continue being good stewards to the community during this global energy transition.

“Collaborating with e2Companies, Palm Energy, and 34 Group brings together the expertise and resources needed to propel our energy projects to success, leveraging each partner’s strengths for a more sustainable future,” Geary said.

Trustifi Expands its Global Footprint, Signing with CyberDisti to Cover India, the UAE, & Africa

Geofencing capabilities and an exclusive new agreement expands the reach of Trustifi’s next-generation, AI-powered solutions to new countries

LAS VEGAS, NV / ACCESSWIRE / May 22, 2024 / Trustifi, the premier provider of AI- and cloud-based email cyber security solutions, announced the launch of new geofencing capabilities for its expanding customer base in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This demand has been primarily driven by an exclusive agreement with CyberDisti, a major distributor serving the UAE, India, and Africa. This new development extends Trustifi’s geographic base, which already includes an impressive range of countries such as the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Germany, Singapore, and Brazil, a geographic list that represents some of the world’s most technologically advanced nations.

CyberDisti is one of the leading email security distributors in its market. The company has offices in Mumbai, Kerala, Delhi, Bangalore, and Tamil Nadu in India; Kenya in Africa; Dubai in the UAE; and Oman. This distributor now solely offers Trustifi solutions to its network of managed service providers, giving credence to Trustifi’s position as a one-stop resource for email cybersecurity offerings. Trustifi’s comprehensive suite offers both inbound and outbound security encompassing anti-malware and antivirus, data loss protection, AES-256 encryption with tokenization capabilities, automated compliance to a host of global regulations, smart archiving features, an account takeover protection module, and an integrated new platform providing customizable threat simulation capabilities.

Cybersecurity continues to be a major concern in the UAE and its neighboring nations, as threats compound across the globe following the rise of AI-driven malware. For example, an increase in cybersecurity breaches in the UAE has been documented by Dark Reading, which reported that 87% of companies in this region have experienced cyber incidents in the past two years from both external and internal actors. And in India, a December cyberattack on an online government platform, the e-Nagarpalika portal of Madhya Pradesh, shut down that body’s services and compromised the data of residents across 412 cities, triggering a massive loss of revenue.

"Cybersecurity issues are only amplifying as AI-based technologies advance, to the point where it’s becoming near impossible for network users to tell viable emails apart from damaging imposter phishing attempts-and many of the largest breaches in recent memory can be traced to a single password compromise. Companies need to be more proactive and take these risks out of their users’ hands by leveraging advanced, AI-based, layered security solutions. CyberDisti understands that, and has taken action for their solution providers," said Rom Hendler, CEO and co-founder of Trustifi. "The fact that CyberDisti has entrusted us to be its sole provider of email cybersecurity solutions is evidence of the wide-ranging capability of our products. We’re proud to be able to extend these AI-based protections to CyberDisti’s customers throughout India-one of the most populated regions in the world-in addition to the UAE and Africa."

Trustifi’s AI-powered solutions provide superior protection compared to traditional security packages. Too many conventional SEG (security email gateway)-based solutions leverage blacklisting and whitelisting of known malicious IP addresses as their main tactic in filtering threats. Such methods are not adequate in this age of clever AI-generated and social engineering attacks, which lure victims to persuasive mock-ups of known vendor web sites in order to commandeer those users’ credentials. In addition, Business Email Compromise (BEC) attacks target high-level personnel, hacking their accounts and composing convincing requests to transfer money via wire. Blacklisting techniques simply can’t detect these more sophisticated strategies. Only advanced AI-trained filters that interpret text and identify ill-intentioned keywords can flag such attempts. Trustifi’s next generation solutions utilize these progressive methods.

"Trustifi’s suite incorporates such a powerful range of capabilities, we felt they presented considerable benefits over many less-versatile email cybersecurity options," said Jibu John, CEO of CyberDisti. "Trustifi offers a born-in-the-cloud portfolio, developed specifically to address techniques that have developed since the advent of cutting-edge, AI-based threats. Their solutions leverage the same kinds of AI-driven tools to detect and help administrators remediate these advanced attacks. When we weighed these advantages, Trustifi was the clear choice to be our exclusive email cybersecurity provider."

Trustifi was recognized in the 2023 Gartner Market Guide for Email Security* for its Outbound Shield, Inbound Shield, and Account Takeover Protection solution. In addition, Trustifi’s solutions have repeatedly been acknowledged through awards from esteemed sources such as CRN, the American Business Association, ChannelVision magazine, Expert Insights, the Cybersecurity Breakthrough Awards, SourceForge, and the "Globee" Business Awards.

Re-evaluation of agrochemical, fertilizers and machines starts in July of every year-Witness

Reverend Father Emmanuel Okpoti Kofi Oddoye, a former Deputy Executive Director of the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG), has stated that re-evaluation of agrochemicals, fertilizers, and machinery usually starts in July of every year.

He stated that chemical companies sent samples of agrochemicals sold to COCOBOD to CRIG for re-evaluation at a cost.

Rev Father Oddoye, a subpoenaed witness for Mr Seidu Agongo, was speaking in his evidence in chief in the trial involving Dr Stephen Opuni, a former Chief Executive of COCOBOD, led by Mr Benson Nutsukpui, Counsel for Agongo.

Dr Opuni and Mr Agongo are facing 27 charges, including defrauding by false pretences, willfully causing financial loss to the State, money laundering, and corruption by a public officer in contravention of the Public Procurement Act.

They have both pleaded not guilty to the charges and are on a GHS300,000.00 self-recognizance bail each.

Rev Father Oddoye said apart from providing samples for the re-evaluation of the agrochemicals,
the companies did not have any other role in the re-evaluation exercises.

The witness said the Chairman of the CTCM, in consultation with the Executive Director of CRIG, initiated and carried out the re-evaluation exercise.

He said that when agrochemicals, fertilisers, and machinery were initially checked and proven to be correct, a certificate was granted for one year.

The former Deputy Executive Director said to be issued a new certificate in a subsequent year, some form of re-evaluation was carried out to ensure that the agrochemicals, fertilisers, and machines were still effective.

‘During the re-evaluation period CRIG will request samples from the Chemical companies but will also take samples from the various chemicals used in the field,’ he said.

He explained that re-evaluations were conducted in the second half of the year preceding the one in which the certifications were granted.

‘Chemical Companies do not have any role in initiating the re-evaluation of their products sold to COCOBOD,’ he said
.

The witness said it was the sole responsibility of CRIG to initiate the re-evaluation exercise for agrochemicals

He said that when he joined CRIG’s Deputy Executive Director, he was unfamiliar with the product lithovit liquid fertiliser, which was one of the fertilizers examined and purchased by COCOBOD.

‘I got to know of Lithovit when letters were sent to agrochemical companies for the re-evaluation and the products to be re-evaluated were listed,’ he said.

He said the list of companies for reevaluation was prepared in consultation with the Office of the Deputy Chief Executive in charge of Agronomy and Quality Control.

The witness said when he assumed office as the Deputy Executive Director there were no complaints or issues relating to lithovit liquid fertiliser until the end of 2017.

He noted that CRIG simply assessed the product and advised COCOBOD on its acceptability; procurement and supply to farmers were not within the centre’s purview.

Beige-Bank trial: CBG is using the Beige Group structures – witness

Ms Okbell Majdoub, former head of the Service Quality (SQ) Department of the defunct Beige-Bank, has testified that Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG) is occupying three of its structures.

‘I am particularly referring to CBG branches located at Spintex, Atomic and Weija,’ the fourth witness said.

This was during her evidence-in-chief at the High Court trying Michael Nyinaku, former Chief Executive Officer of the Beige Group (TBG).

She said she joined Beige in 2016 as the head of SQ and it had a lot of subsidiaries in the financial services industry therefore her role was to oversee service quality assurance across all the financial service subsidiaries of TBG.

‘The key responsibility of the Service Quality department was to ensure consistency in the service flow across the sub-units. This required training, brand standardization [look and feel] and service measures,’ she told the Court.

The witness said for each office that she and her team worked on, there were standard architectural designs and layouts that
served as a guide on how the office should be set up.

‘We had also developed a standard look and feel concept {or décor theme] for every branch and that is what we all worked to achieve.

Key ingredients of this décor theme were the use of particular colours for guest lounges, particular colours of sofas, a mini library [bookshelves with books arranged in them] and a unique feature that we described as a ‘kokonsa window’ or a splash window.

She said the intent behind that design concept was to make the branch look uniquely attractive and to keep the branch in the minds of all passers-by.

‘I can confirm that as of today, these ‘kokonsa’ windows still exist at these locations which have now become branches of CBG.’

She said the level of detail and decoration that went into each branch varied, depending on their size, adding that smaller branches had limited space, so their decor was minimal.

On the other hand, larger branches had more space to work with, resulting in more extensive decor, the witness said.

She gave some examples of larger branches, including Labone, Airport West, Atomic Junction, Tesano, Osu, Weija, Tamale, and Adum (in Kumasi).

These branches, she said, were premium branches and they received extensive décor.

‘I am familiar with these branches because as I already stated, I led the team that was responsible for setting them up these branches,’ the witness informed the High Court.

The SQ team was a department that operated under TBG, and funding came from the finance office of TBG.

Nyinaku has been charged with stealing and money laundering which he has pleaded not guilty to.

Ghana requests partnership for green hydrogen production

The Ministry of Energy has requested the collaboration of development partners towards the review of Ghana’s Renewable Energy Master Plan to include green hydrogen.

The Ministry said green hydrogen ‘holds significant promise’ to Ghana’s energy future and called for partnership in research and development to facilitate Ghana’s adoption of green hydrogen.

Mr Collins Adomako-Mensah, a Deputy Minister of Energy, made the call at a symposium on the adoption of green hydrogen organised by the Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU) in Accra on Wednesday.

The Minister said Ghana’s policy was to promote green hydrogen in the long term and encouraged research institutions to express interest in the area and proffer appropriate technologies for Ghana.

‘The Energy Ministry remains committed to exploring new energy frontiers to support Ghana on the path of sustainable, environmentally-sound and gender-responsive economic growth.’ Mr Adomako-Mensah said.

Contrary to hydrogen, which is produced from natural g
as, green hydrogen uses renewable electricity to power electrolysis that split water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen.

This process, according to experts, does not require fossil fuel, making it a better option to accelerate decarbonisation targets.

Ghana’s Energy Transition Framework targets a total shift from fossil fuel to green energy by 2070.

Under the Framework, the country has targeted that by 2045, more than 70 per cent of all road vehicles would run on electricity and hydrogen and all road and rail motilities are expected to run on electricity and hydrogen by 2070.

Mr Adomako-Mensah said it was imperative for Ghana to broaden the conversation on the emerging hydrogen industry.

Speakers at the symposium touted the efficiency of hydrogen in supporting Ghana’s energy transition agenda and called for immediate steps in the areas of research, policy, investment, and partnership to position the country as a player in the global hydrogen market.

Professor Amevi Akakpovi, Acting Vice-Chancellor of Ac
cra Technical University, proposed pilot initiatives to assess Ghana’s readiness for the adoption of green hydrogen and build local expertise on the technology.

He also proposed the promulgation of policy frameworks to guide the production, storage, and transportation of green hydrogen.

‘In the transport sector, we must invest in transport logistics such as pipelines infrastructure and transportation to stations.’ Prof. Akakpovi added.

Prof. Francis Boateng Agyenim, Director, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research – Institute of Industrial Research, urged academic institutions to explore research opportunities in the green hydrogen sector and partner with industry for its adoption.

Prof. Emmanuel Ohene Afoakwa, Vice-Chancellor of GCTU, said the share of renewable energy in Ghana’s energy mix is ‘very low’ and called for the adoption of systems that would support the production of low-cost energy.

The welfare of the boy-child is lagging-Educationist

The welfare of the boy-child is gradually being ignored at the expense of the girl-child, Madam Patricia Abotsi, Head, Girls Education Unit, Korle Klottey Municipal Education Directorate, has observed.

She said the quest to empower the girl-child almost resulted in a situation where the boy-child was left behind.

She was speaking at The Korle Klottey Municipal Education Directorate has organised a one-day leadership workshop for students in its catchment area organised by the Korle Klottey Municipal Education Directorate in Accra.

The training hinged on the theme; ‘Effective Leadership for a Better Future’ is to commemorate the International Day of the Boy Child which is celebrated on May 16 every year.

The purpose is to emphasize the need for the well-being of the boy-child.

Participants were drawn from 26 government basic schools and three senior high schools from the three circuits, making up the education directorate of the Municipality.

‘Of late, we have realised that due to the concentration on th
e girl-child, there is no attention for the boy-child and they are lagging behind. That is why we saw it wise to commemorate such a day that will empower the boy-child,’ she said.

Addressing the students and teachers who participated in the event, Mr Philip Aidoo, Director of Education, Korle Klottey Municipal, said that children were future leaders hence the need to teach them the appropriate leadership skills.

He said effective leadership was very key in nation-building and that was why the Ghana Education Service had even inculcated some lessons on it in its new curriculum.

He however observed that there existed some leadership challenges, especially at the family level, saying that many parents had concentrated on just some aspects of human needs, especially financial literacy, neglecting the critical needs of a growing child.

He said some parents did not even follow up on the performance of their children in school and appealed to parents to complement the efforts of teachers by paying attention to t
he development of their wards’ leadership and other soft skills.

‘The children are learning from us, and they will practice what they see us practising so whatever we want them to be in future, we should start practising it so that in future they will also live by it.’ Mr Aidoo said.

He then advised the students to take the various leadership training models seriously since they were grounds for nurturing effective leaders.

‘A lot of leaders you see today started like you, so I beg you to take whatever training you are receiving seriously,’ he implored.

He said Ghana could testify to the abundant role of divine intervention in maintaining a peaceful democracy over the decades.

‘I know that the Lord intervenes in the affairs of men. It is a good thing to seek the face of the Lord, and this is something every peace-loving Ghanaian should take up,’ he said.

The Clark insisted on the non-political outlook of the prayer conventions, noting the presence of people from across the political divide.

‘It is a symbol to all and sundry that we are in this together, so we must go back to God,’ he said, asking to pray for peace beyond the elections.

Rev. Djietror said the laudable initiative should be replicated by members of other religious bodies and faith-based organisations and called on the media to support its endorsement.

Rt Rev. Lt. Col. (Rtd) Bliss Agbeko, Moderator of the General Assembly of the E. P. Church, in a brief sermon, said Ghana needed to continue to seek divine support for peace and for the fight against corruption, also
calling on faith bearers to consider the need to patronise the spiritual initiative.

Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, The Volta Regional Minister, also commended the Speaker for the insight and effort and said the Government would ensure it received the needed support.

‘This initiative is a laudable one. We applaud it and we will give it all the support.’

Mr Charles Agbeve, Member of Parliament of Agortime Ziope Constituency, told the GNA that faith bearers and organisations should replicate the prayer services in their various localities to ensure the nation entirely took part in the important event.
