HRH Prince Al-Hassan bin Talal visits EDB

Manama, Mar. 18 (BNA): Chairman of Jordan-based Arab Thought Forum (ATF), His Royal Highness Prince Al-Hassan bin Talal, paid a visit today to the Economic Development Board (EDB) headquarters at Bahrain Bay.

On arrival, HRH Al-Hassan bin Talal was received by mainly Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy, Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, and senior officials.

The Deputy Prime Minister welcomed HRH Prince Al-Hassan bin Talal and his accompanying delegation, stressing strong fraternal relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan thanks to the care and support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein.

The Deputy Prime Minister pointed out Bahrain’s unwavering keenness on boosting cooperation with Jordan to serve the interests of both countries.

HRH Prince Al-Hassan bin Talal was briefed through a presentation by the Minister of Finance and National Economy about the work mechanism of the Bahraini government. Education Minister congratulates Al-Mustaqbal Primary Girls School

Manama, Mar.18 (BNA): Al-Mustaqbal Primary Girls School finished first in the primary school category in the UN Sustainable Development Goals Champions of Change project competition (Green Earth, Healthy life).

Education Minister Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma congratulated the school, teaching and administrative staff, as well as students and parents on the achievement.

He noted Bahrain’s school achievements and strides, paying tribute to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for their support to the education sector.

The competition which was held remotely, was organized by the Global Twenty-First Century Skills Committee, the two American platforms Weeklet and Book, and the British SPSC organization.

The Al-Mustaqbal Primary Girls School for Girls outclassed 100 other schools from 45 countries to rank first in the contest

The minister praised the school’s projects which provide innovative solutions to the challenges of achieving sustainable development goals in terms of clean energy, climate action, industry, innovation, and ensuring quality education for all, including designing a sustainable city through the Minecraft educational application.

National Medical Taskforce updates COVID-19 regulations

Manama, Mar. 18 (BNA): The National Medical Taskforce for combatting COVID-19 has announced a set of updated regulations following a review of the current health situation in the Kingdom, and the occupancy rates for COVID-19 cases in hospitals and Intensive Care Units.

Supreme Council of Health Chairman and head of the National Medical Taskforce Lt. General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, stated that as of Sunday March 19, 2023, a positive rapid test will be considered the diagnostic tool of choice for confirming infections at local health centers, while PCRs can be performed when indicated as per medical evaluation.

He added that the new regulations also stipulate that mandatory self-isolation will no longer be in effect, while advising active cases to isolate for five days and avoid contact with others.

Dr. Shaikh Mohammed stressed the need for all members of the society to continue following precautionary guidelines, including taking the booster shots of the vaccine and testing when developing any symptoms such as fever, cough, or difficulty in breathing.

LMRA, NPRA, Northern Police Directorate conduct inspection campaign

Manama, Mar.18 (BNA): The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) conducted a joint inspection campaign in the Northern Governorate, in coordination with the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) of the Ministry of Interior and the Governorate’s respective Police Directorate.

The campaign resulted in reporting violations related to the Labour Market and Residency laws. The cases were referred for legal action.

LMRA stressed its commitment to report any violation through a continuous and intensive inspection plan, in coordination with the relevant government entities.

The Labour Market Regulatory Authority renewed its call on all members of the society to support the efforts of government agencies in addressing illegal labour practices by reporting violations via the electronic form on LMRA’s website www.lmra.gov.bh or by calling the authority’s call centre on 17506055.

INJAZ Bahrain Chairperson opens second edition of youth festival

Board Chairperson of INJAZ Bahrain, Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa opened the second edition of INJAZ Bahrain Youth Festival, in the presence of Minister of Youth Affairs Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi. The festival, held at Water Garden City, attracted more than 5000 visitors over two successive days.

The function aims to build a generation of young entrepreneurs capable of enrolling in the financial and business market.

Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa said that the festival provides a platform for the youth to cast light on the capabilities and potentials of the future generation of Bahraini entrepreneurs to engage in a practical experience of market management. She affirmed that hosting the festival for the second time is part of a plan to empower Bahraini youth and prepare them for the labour market.
